We arrived in the Capitol Reef area on Friday, May 29. On Saturday, we took a ten mile scenic drive up the park to the Capitol Gorge trail. The trail was an old, narrow wagon road that passed through a slot canyon with vertical walls on both sides. On the way in, we saw on the walls petroglyphs and the pioneer signatures and dates. After walking about 1 mile, we took a side trail half-way up a side canyon to a place called The Tanks, a series of natural pools running down that canyon.
