Friday, June 5, we drove from Baker, Nevada to Twin Falls. Lots of wind once again! Thunder and lightening always visible and threatening in the distance, but we skirted most of the rain. It actually stopped raining 5 minutes after we dug out and put on our heavy duty rain gear.
In Twin Falls, we stayed at a KOA, and on Saturday made two brief stops to view Shoshone Falls (Niagara of the West) and Perrine Bridge. Unfortunately, the far side of Shoshone Falls was diverted for construction, so not as magnificent this year as it will be when the construction is complete. Rode onward toward home, staying at Brownlee Reservoir (Farewell Bend State Park) where we enjoyed a cabin on the water, beautiful skies, and entertaining "sage rats".
After traveling throughout the Utah and Nevada deserts, our hottest day of travel was our last day driving through Eastern Oregon. The thermometer reportedly reached 97 degrees, and stopping at the city park in The Dalles was a welcome relief where we cooled off. Veering from the Columbia River gorge and driving Mt Hood Scenic Byway from Hood River took us to higher, cooler elevation with great views of Mt Hood and the Hood River fruit industry.
We are grateful for 16 days of adventure, R&R, safety, and good times together! Another 3229 miles on the odometer of the motorcycle, and lots of great memories.
