Thursday, June 4, we left Springdale and headed for Great Basin National Park in Nevada. The wind in the vast valleys was reminiscent of Death Valley, but the temperature was much more comfortable! Enjoyed an excellent tour of the Lehman Caves, and then a scenic drive up to Wheeler Peak. Our tour guide reports that the Lehman Caves were a popular setting for the local Elks Club during prohibition, for reasons you can surmise. Ended the day at Silver Jack's Motel, Café and Electrolux Museum! This is the only lodging (other than camping) within 50 miles of the park. Definitely a classic trip into history, a stereotypical desert western town.
